Prof. Ofelia Ortega : "La vision du prophète Ézéquiel est devenue réalité".

Le 12 octobre, Ofelia Ortega a reçu le prix "Fille illustre de la ville" de Matanzas à Cuba. Mme Ortega, ancienne présidente du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) pour l'Amérique latine et les Caraïbes, a également été professeure à l'Institut œcuménique de Bossey et membre du personnel du COE responsable de l'Amérique latine et des Caraïbes dans le cadre du Programme d'éducation théologique.

On 12 October, Dr Ofelia Ortega received a “Illustrious Daughter of the City” award from Matanzas, Cuba. Ortega, former World Council of Churches (WCC) president for Latin America and the Caribbean, also served as a Bossey Ecumenical Institute professor as well as the WCC staff person responsible for Latin America and the Caribbean in the Programme on Theological Education. 

WCC honours Charles R. Harper, defender of human rights and human dignity

Charles R. (“Chuck”) Harper, director of the Latin American human rights resource office at the World Council of Churches (WCC) from 1973 to 1992, died on 25 May 2016 in Saint Hilaire d’Ozihan, France. A Presbyterian minister and ecumenical activist, he was the recipient of presidential awards from Chile in 2011 and Argentina in 2014 for his dedication to the defence, protection and restoration of human rights in those countries.

Rev. Dr Letty Russell

Writing to Dr Shannon Clarkson, the partner of Rev. Dr Letty Russell, who died on 12 July 2007, WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia expresses the Council's sadness over the loss of "one of the most renowned woman theologians in the world," who "has left her mark on the World Council of Churches."

A long-time member of the WCC's Faith and Order Commission and one of the most renowned women theologians in the world, Rev. Dr Letty Russell, 77, died Thursday, 12 July, at her home in Guilford, Conn., USA.
